Crane Independent School District

 

September 13, 2001

 

 

The Board of Trustees of the Crane Independent School District met on the 13th day of September 2001 in regular session with the following members present:

 

Sid Frymire, President                                    Manuel Cadena, Sr.

Ray North, Vice-President                               Jerry Smith

Mary Jo Heard, Asst. Secretary                        Tommy Bishop

 

Administrators present were:

Ryder Warren, Superintendent                        Ken Eudy, Business Manager

Joe Westmoreland, HS Principal                      Dennis Ward, Discipline Coordinator

Van Dodd, HS Counselor                     

 

Others present were:

Carlin Grammer, HS Teacher                          Tara Tipton

Kristina Sena                                                 Sheila Hooper

Sarah Edwards                                              Mabel Brown

 

 

1.     Mr. Frymire, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.

 

2.     Sid Frymire led the invocation.

 

3.     Visitors were recognized.

 

4.  No public comment.

 

5.  HS Principal Joe Westmoreland introduced HS Student Council sponsor Carlin Grammer who then in turn introduced the 2001-2002 HS Student Council:  Tara Tipton – President, Kristina Sena – Vice-President, Sarah Edwards – Recording Secretary and Sheila Hooper – Corresponding Secretary.  Each member explained their roles and goals for this school year.

 

6.  Heard moved, seconded by Cadena to approve the consent agenda as presented.  Adopted unanimously.

 

7. Bishop moved, seconded by North to accept Superintendent Warren’s recommendation to adopt TASB’s Update 65.   Adopted unanimously.

 

8.  Cadena moved, seconded by Bishop to adopt TASB Local Policy BQA and BQB as presented.   Adopted unanimously.

 

9.  Bishop moved, seconded by Heard to approve the 2001-2002 district goals as presented.    Adopted unanimously.

 

10. North moved, seconded by Heard to accept Superintendent Warren’s recommendation to join TACS (Tx Association of Community Schools) for the 2001-2002 school year at a cost of $400.   Adopted unanimously.

 

11. North moved, seconded by Cadena to accept Superintendent Warren’s recommendation to join TARS (Tx Association of Rural Schools) for the 2001-2002 school year at a cost of $250.   Adopted unanimously.

 

12. President Frymire appointed volunteers Tommy Bishop and Ray North to serve as board representatives on the 2001-2002 District Leadership Team.

 

13. HS Counselor Van Dodd presented the 2000-2001 TAAS test results.

 

14. Discipline Coordinator Dennis Ward presented the 2000-2001 safe schools report.

 

15A. Superintendent Warren reported that the 2001-2002 District Leadership Team will meet this Monday September 17 in the school cafeteria at 7:00 p.m.

15B. He also reported that the annual TASB/TASA Convention begins next Friday September 21.  Plans for departure at this time are Thursday 11:30 a.m. from the bus parking compound.

 

16. President Frymire ordered the board to adjourn into executive session pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code chapter 551.074 for the purpose of discussing personnel issues.    Time:  8:05 p.m.

President Frymire ordered the executive session closed and the regular session be resumed at 9:42 p.m.  He also stated that no items of business were conducted in the executive session. 

 

17. Smith moved, seconded by Bishop to adjourn the meeting.  Adopted unanimously.
