The Board of Trustees of the Crane Independent School District met on Thursday, July 24, 2003
in special session with the following members present:

 

Sid Frymire, President
Sandy Hubbard, Secretary
Helen Romeiser, Assistant Secretary
Manuel Cadena
Jerry Smith

Administrators Present were:
Wayne Mitchell, Interim Superintendent
Steven Saldivar, HS Principal
Alan Swinford, Director of Physical Services


Ken Eudy, Business Manager
Stacy Jones, MS Principal
Randy Doege, Athletic Director

             

Item 1

Mr. Frymire, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

 

Item  2    Discussion and possible approval of Superintendent's resignation.

Sandy Hubbard moved, seconded by Manuel Cadena, to accept with regret a letter of

resignation dated July 23,2003 from Superintendent Ryder Warren.    Adopted unanimously.

 

Item  3    Discussion and possible approval of track lighting proposals.

Director of Physical Services Swinford reported that there was only one proposal

received for lighting our track field.    Jerry Smith moved, seconded by Helen Romeiser, to accept Director of Physical Services Swinford's recommendation to award the track lighting project to Urban Electrical Service, Inc. in the amount of:  $27,000.    Adopted unanimously.

 

Item 4    Discussion and possible approval of 2003-2004 Student Code of Conduct.

No action taken.

 

Item 5    Discussion and possible approval of sale of struck-off property.

No action taken.

 

Item      6    Executive Session.

President Frymire ordered the board to adjourn into executive session pursuant to

the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas government Code chapter 551.074 for the

purpose of discussing personnel issues.  Time:   7:11 p.m.

President Frymire ordered the executive session closed and the regular session be

resumed at 7:55  p.m.  He also stated that no items of business were conducted in

the executive session.

 

Item  7    Possible action arising from executive session.

Manuel Cadena moved, seconded by Helen Romeiser, to accept Superintendent

Mitchell's recommendation to offer a professional probationary teacher contract for

the 2003-2004 school year to Jana Griffen.    Adopted unanimously.

Jerry Smith moved, seconded by Manuel Cadena, to accept Superintendent Mitchell's

recommendation to offer a professional probationary teacher contract for the 2003-2004 school year to Lindsey Raines.    Adopted unanimously.

Sandy Hubbard moved, seconded by Helen Romeiser, to adjourn the meeting.   

Time: 7:56 p.m.    Adopted unanimously.
