The Board of Trustees of the Crane Independent School District met on Thursday July 03, 2003
in special session with the following members present:

 

Sid Frymire, President Ray North, Vice-President  Sandy Hubbard, Secretary Helen Romeiser, Assistant Secretary	Manuel Cadena Jerry Smith Tommy Bishop
Administrators present were: Ryder Warren, Superintendent Randy Doege, Athletic Director	Ken Eudy, Business Manager
Other Guests present were: Carol Sanders

 

Item      1

Mr. Frymire, Board President, called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

 

Item      2    Review of 2003-2004 Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.

Numerous changes were discussed and/or requested.

 

Item      3    Executive Session.

President Frymire ordered the board to adjourn into executive session pursuant to

the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code chapter 551.074 for the

purpose of discussing personnel issues.  Time: 9:00 p.m.

President Frymire ordered the executive session closed and the regular session be

resumed at 10:20 p.m.  He also stated that no items of business were conducted in

the executive session.

 

Item  4    Possible action(s) arising from executive session.

Sandy Hubbard moved, seconded by Jerry Smith, to accept Superintendent

Warren's recommendation to offer a professional dual-assignment probationary

contract for the 2003-2004 school year to Henry Anderson as teacher/coach.

Adopted unanimously.

Jerry Smith moved, seconded by Ray North, to accept Superintendent Warren's

recommendation to move current at-will employees Alan Swinford (Maintenance

Director), Rory Peacock (Computer Technician) and Janet Wilson (Chief Assesor) to

non-chapter 21, 12-month contracted employees for the 2003-2004 school year.

Adopted unanimously.

Tommy Bishop moved, seconded by Sandy Hubbard, to accept with regrets the

resignation of Jill Warren, MS teacher effective immediately.    Adopted unanimously.

Jerry Smith moved, seconded by Manuel Cadena, to remove the $5,700 stipend for

Head High School Band Director and replace it with a 1.20 factor and title of Head

Band Director on the 2003-2004 Salary Schedule.    Adopted unanimously.

Helen Romeiser moved, seconded by Jerry Smith, to amend the 2003-2004 Salary

Schedule to include the position of ESL coordinator at a pay rate of State Base +

$5,000 + 1 month and name Linda Heiser to fill that position for the 2003-2004

school year.    Adopted unanimously.

Jerry Smith moved, seconded by Helen Romeiser, to adjourn the meeting.    Time: 

10:35 p.m.    Adopted unanimously.
