SCHWAG

 

STRENGTH

The S in SCHWAG stands for Strength. Webster's dictionary defines strength as 1: the quality or state of being strong: capacity for exertion or endurance. 2: power to resist force: SOLIDITY, TOUGHNESS. 3: power of resisting attack: IMPREGNABILITY.

      We will be STRONG and will ENDURE. We will RESIST any force that threatens our team, through SOLIDITY as a team, TOUGHNESS as a team and IMPREGNABILITY as a team.

 

COURAGE

The C in SCHWAG  stands for Courage. Courage is derived from the Latin word cor, which meant heart. it is defined as: mental or moral strength to VENTURE, PERSEVERE, and WITHSTAND DANGER, fear, or difficulty. Synonyms of Courage are METTLE, SPIRIT, RESOLUTION and TENACITY. COURAGE implies firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty. METTLE suggests an ingrained capacity for meeting strain or difficulty with fortitude and resilience. SPIRIT also suggests a quality of temperament enabling one to hold one's own or keep up one's morale when opposed or threatened. RESOLUTION stresses firm determination to achieve one's goals. TENACITY adds implications of stubborn persistence and unwillingness to admit defeat.

     There is COURAGE in every Ladybird and as members of this team we will always help each other show our courage.

 

HARD WORK

The H is SCHWAG stand for HARD and the W for WORK. The definition of HARD is, 1: intense in force, manner, or degree. 2: demanding the exertion of energy: calling for stamina and endurance. 3: performing or carrying on with great energy, intensity, or persistence. WORK means, 1: activity in which one exerts strength or faculties to do or perform something; sustained physical or mental effort to overcome obstacles and achieve and objective or result; the labor, task, or duty that is one's accustomed means of livelihood; a specific task, duty, function, or assignment often being a part or phase of some larger activity.

     There is a HARD WORKer in each and every Ladybird and we will remind each other that there is, each and every day. 

 

ATTITUDE

The A in SCHWAG stand for ATTITUDE. ATTITUDE comes from the Latin word aptitudo, which means fitness. Attitude is defined as, a position assumed for a specific purpose; a mental position with regard to a fact or situation; a feeling or emotion toward a fact or situation; a sate of readiness to respond in a characteristic way to a stimulus; a negative or hostile state of mind; a cool, cocky, defiant, or arrogant manner.

      There are times when all of these different meanings of Attitude will come into play throughout the year. All Ladybird athletes will help to make sure the proper Attitude is displayed by all Ladybirds all the time.

 

GREATNESS

The final letter G in SCHWAG stands for GREATNESS. GREATNESS comes from the German word groz, which means large. Greatness is defined as, notably large in size; large in number or measure; remarkable in magnitude, degree, or effectiveness; full of emotion; chief or preeminent over others; markedly superior in character or quality; remarkably skilled; marked by enthusiasm; used as a generalized term of approval.

      There is GREATNESS in every Ladybird athlete. It is up to all of us to help bring that Greatness to the top, because when we have all made the most of our Greatness, our team will be able to reach a level of Greatness like none have ever seen before.
