About Us: The West Texas Sand Band's story: Well it all started out last summer, Justin King had a dream. He dreamed that one day, Crane Texas could produce the greatest Texas Country band in the world. He began his search by adding the best guitar player to come out of Crane High School Jared Jones, to be the lead to King's rhythm. For a while, that summer it was just them and the song writer Casey (Pock) Johns, working on their sound and developing some detail to the dream. They decided after a month or so, that they needed to finish filling out the band. They needed a Drummer, Bass Guitarist, Fiddler, Sound Man, Ghost Runner and possibly a Singer. The first one that King discovered was the Fiddler. James Clack came into the picture after talking with King on a trip to Clack's ranch. He had never played the fiddle but it was in his blood and it had always appealed to him. He immediately went out and purchased a mail order fiddle for $50.00 off of the internet. As Clack began his training, the band grew wider. Daryl Grammar was discovered by King in the High School band hall, he was already the bass guitarist in a church band in Crane, but WTSB knew that they would be generous enough to let us barrow him until we got our feet in the door. As time went on the band came together and found a name with Pock's help, The West Texas Sand Band was born. Right now we have an 18 song play list and 5 of those songs are originals. We've pulled in Justen Henry on the Soon to be, steel guitar / Ghost Runner and Cord (O.J.) Lowery at sound and lights guy. We were searching for a singer for some time but, Jared is constantly improving and as long as it doesn't affect his guitar solos he can sing for us as well as play the lead. You can look forward to hearing our album sometime in the future as soon as we get around to recording it. Until then we'll still be here still living it up and working hard to save our genre from the MTV generation.
