Elementary Education Degree with reading specialization

I have been teaching  7 years.

Grading Policy : All grades are averaged together.

Classroom Rules : 1) Listen when others are talking. 2) Follow directions.  3) Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. 4) Work quietly and do not disturb others. 5) Show respect for school and personal property. 6) Work and play in a safe manner.

Our classroom is a fun place to be with learning being our top priority. We do a lot of hands-on activities and fun projects. It is important in our classroom to build self-esteem and support each other with kindness and encouragement.

Louise Parker

Tutoring: At this time, I am only tutoring during school hours.

Grading Policy: I take 2 or 3 daily grades a week in reading and math. I give reading and spelling tests every Friday for a grade. I also give at least 1 reading grade each week for oral reading during class. The spelling grade is part of the English grade. Children also receive other grades in English for writing and reading assignments. Social Studies and Science grades involve a weekly participation grade plus grades from benchmark tests and classroom activities.

Classroom Rules: 1) Be kind to each other. 2) Listen to the teacher. 3) Follow directions. 4) Whatever you take out, you put up. 5) Stay in your seat, unless it is free time.

I enjoy teaching and I enjoy children. I believe learning can and should be fun and interesting. I want my students to feel comfortable and happy in my classroom. I want my students to be excited about school and about what they will learn each day. I try to make each child feel good about who they are. I also try to help each child find something they can excel in. I encourage the children to try to see the best in fellow classmates.

Education: Angelo State and UTPB (degree in Child and Family studies w/ esl endorsement)

This is my second year to teach.

Tutoring: Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30

Grading Policy: Number grades, and I give extra time in class to turn in assignments to those who are struggling with a concept, as long as I see effort.

Classroom Rules: Treat others as you would like them to treat you (Golden Rule), follow directions first time around, respect others and their property, raise your hand before talking, and keep all body parts to yourself.  Oh, and if you are going to tattle, you have to write down on a piece of paper, with your name and date, and the comment. This note then goes in my tattle/chisme jar.

I try to mix in some humor with my teaching. It can be hard to be serious all day long and try to learn so many concepts, so I try to find humor in as much as I can.  I would like to thank Mrs. L. and Mrs. Woodwick for their help in my room.
